Protecting childhood
in a digital world.
Bucks Unplugged shares research, resources, and events
to help families, schools, and community members
make informed decisions about kids and technology.
What we believe
- Kids come first. Every decision about technology should start with what's best for children's safety, health, and development.
- Parents deserve the facts. Informed families make better choices. We share research, not rhetoric.
- Schools are part of the picture. Kids spend most of their day in school — policies around phones, apps, and screen time matter as much at school as they do at home.
- Community makes it possible. Changing norms is hard alone. It's easier when neighbors, educators, and families work together.
- This isn't anti-technology. It's pro-childhood. We want kids to grow up with the skills and freedom to thrive — online and off.
What parents and caregivers need to know
The research is clear: smartphones, social media, and unsupervised screen time pose real risks to children's mental health, development, and safety. We all need to understand what the research says so we can make informed decisions to protect and support our kids and each other.
Bucks Unplugged is a resource for parents and caregivers who want the facts. We're affiliated with PA Unplugged, a bipartisan statewide coalition of families working to restore real-world connection and build stronger communities.
500+ Bucks County families have pledged to delay the smartphone through Wait Until 8th.
